PEOPLE
An earthquake in Japan reverberates in the lives of a host of otherwise unconnected people, each negotiating in some way the deep gulf of human loneliness and longing. The play connects a kaleidoscope of characters in scenes that range from the tragic to the comically absurd: a kooky professor obsesses over a call from a handsome stranger; a heartbroken handphone salesman finds comfort in Sun Wu Kong; a palliative care nurse deals with the ward’s most unpleasant patient; a young lover stares down the depths below the Brooklyn Bridge… Tense, lyrical, and full of heart, People explores that age old question: how deeply, really, do we dare to be known by someone else?
